The 3rd edition of self appreciation released by the CGMT with tall claims about the 187 meetings held by the CGMT during a reign of about 18 months in a futile attempt to project his self-boasting ego works out only to the contrary. Anyone and everyone in the know of things pretty well are aware that this Circle has been the best performing Circle in the country for a very long time and particularly since the formation of the BSNL in 2000, since which time, profitability and productivity came into reckoning. None of the CGMTs in these 14 years have come out with papers citing the number of meetings held by them. Then what was the outcome of these highly publicized and loftily projected meetings? An answer to the question does not call for any extensive research. Many GMs and senior officers have run away from BSNL or escaped to other Circles. Others, who were less lucky, had to be content with transfers away from Trivandrum. After each so called highly motivating meeting , many took VRS, some are hospitalized and some others have gone out of mind displaying erratic behaviors and tantrums. At present the CGM cell has been expanded to put in place a fault-finding mechanism filled with handpicked task masters for abusing and threatening senior officers and executives on behalf of the CGMT. Each one of them are specially rewarded. And the numbers of awards stated in the letter have gone to these cronies.
A Motivational Message to the SSA Heads
“Dear SSA Head,
I am Pained to note that the landline fault rate has climbed upto 40,000. A few weeks ago it was 23,000. Why? I notice one difference. Mohan who was DGM OP retired. He was monitoring the fault rates relentlessly day after day and admonishing and even threatening his colleagues without hesitation on my behalf. I miss him. Are all SSA heads put together less effective than one DGM. Please introspect and act decisively. We are not running a fair weather service but an essential services.

Normally awards were considered as a motivational tool but here the CGMT become the first manager to invite applications from individuals for giving awards. The Poor response for getting motivated, only 118 Applications out of more than 15000 employees is also projected as an Achievement by the CGMT.
Another question that props in the mind of every sensible person is whether the increase in the number of meetings is an indicator to the increase in efficiency. Well , the health of an over-treated patient, when in actual he is fully in the pink of health, does point to the inadequacy or ignorance of the doctor. And it is the doctor that requires treatment. When he is asking for it, there is no other way but to extend him the asked- for treatment.
In the history of BSNL no CGM was forced to issue series of white paper to appraise his Circle about his own activities. Is there anything suspicious or wrong with these series of Self Appraisals. Judge Yourself!!!
